Action, Faith & Breakthrough // No Sense // Pastor Aaron Chapman // Alive Church

We're in week 4 of our No Sense series and today, Pastor Aaron guides us through a principle found in James 2: Faith without works is dead. Through scripture, we examine how action, faith and breakthrough are related in our walks with Jesus. Throughout this series, we've been reminded of Hebrews 11:6: It is impossible to please God without faith. The Bible also tells us faith is not passive—it must be alive, active, and expressed through our words and actions. Faith is released by what comes out of our mouths, and it is demonstrated by how we live. It’s not enough to say we trust God; our actions must line up with our confession. If we say we believe God for a job but never apply for one, or claim we want to grow closer to Him but never spend time in prayer, then our faith is incomplete. True faith is faith in action—and faith in action is breakthrough in motion. From Joshua marching around Jericho (Joshua 6:1-20), to the woman with the issue of blood reaching out in faith (Mark 5:25-34), to Elisha calling on God’s power (2 Kings 1:1-14), the Bible is filled with stories of people who put their belief into action and saw God move mightily. Breakthrough doesn’t happen by chance—it happens when faith meets obedience. Proverbs 16:3 declares, Commit your actions to the Lord and your plans will succeed. Your breakthrough is on the other side of obedience, holiness, and surrender. God is not looking for excuses, but for people who will seek Him with their whole heart. When we step out in faith—attending church, serving others, joining a small group, praying, or forgiving someone—we create an atmosphere for breakthrough. God is Jehovah Nissi, the One who fights our battles. He redeems lost time and restores broken places. But He requires us to take action—steps toward freedom from addiction, healing, forgiveness, or obedience. When we move, God moves. When we act in faith, heaven responds. James 5 reminds us that patience must finish its work so that we lack nothing
