Anger may motivate you in the short-term but it can be dangerous to you in the long-term. It can decimate relationships, frighten a battered wife, destroy a friendship, and negatively affect the workplace. An angry parent in the stands at a sporting event can damage their witness for Christ. Ephesians 4:26-27 (NLT) states, “And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.” Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.” When you start speaking in anger, you’re giving the devil space to set up camp. If you fill your life with WORRY, Satan can gain a foothold in your life. If you fill your life with/GOSSIP, he's gained a foothold in your life. If you allow GUILT to turn into shame, Satan has a foothold in your life. As humans, you will experience anger in your lives but when you do get angry next, try to help it die a quick death. This will take prayer and sharing with someone who can hold you accountable. To grow in the Fruit of the Spirit of self-control is to begin to give people the benefit of the doubt.
