A good translation for the word “persecution” is to be consistently harassed. Have you ever felt naturally blessed when you are being harassed because of your faith? Probably not because we usually tend to think when we are following Jesus and doing what is right that our lives should go right. However, there is a difference between persecution and punishment. Punishment is the result of doing what’s wrong while persecution is the result of doing what’s right so it naturally becomes the result of us living out our faith. Persecution can come from the world around us, other Christians, and even people we love yet Jesus says there can be blessings in the persecution. Don’t be surprised if persecution comes your way because Satan will use it against you but don’t be afraid of it either. It doesn’t have to scare us, it can actually grow us!
