In Luke 13, Jesus encounters a woman who was bound by a spirit of infirmity for 18 years. Her bent spine was extremely deformed, and the debilitating condition affected her not only physically, but also socially — as she was seen as “unclean” and ostracized. However, Jesus saw the woman, called to her, and mercifully declared that she was “loosed,” granting her liberation. By healing her on the Sabbath, Jesus also bent the rigid rules of the day and angered the powerful leader of the synagogue. Did you know that He is still the same today?
