What happens when fear causes the Church to hunker down instead of step out? In this timely message from John 20:19–22, Pastor Josh speaks to a Church tempted to retreat—locking doors, lowering expectations, and shrinking its witness. Like the disciples after the crucifixion, many believers are hunkered down by fear, division, and cultural pressure. But Jesus does not leave His people there. 🕊️ Three movements of Jesus for a hunkered Church: 1️⃣ Jesus Relieves – He enters locked rooms and speaks peace into fear (“Peace be with you”). 2️⃣ Jesus Reveals – He shows His wounds, reminding us that suffering and resurrection go together. 3️⃣ Jesus Releases – He breathes the Holy Spirit and sends His followers back into the world on mission. Rather than hunkering down, Jesus calls the Church to receive peace, remember the cross, and re-engage the mission—loving boldly even when the world grows cold. 📖 Scriptures: John 20:19–22; John 14:12; Matthew 24:12 🗓️ Preached at Northland Church | January 17–18, 2026 🙌 Like • 🔔 Subscribe • 💬 Where might God be calling you to move from fear into faithful action? ⸻ 🏷️ Hashtags #hunkeredchurch #northlandchurch #john20 #churchonmission #faithoverfear #receivethespirit #sentbyjesus #lovedoesnotgrowcold #christianwitness
