Lead Pastor John Parker is joined by Melissa Littlepage and Georgina and Javier Sierra, who help us look inside to better understand ourselves. They discuss how we react when we are disrupted and what are the disciplines and practices we can engage in that help us navigate seasons of disruption. This week’s guest speakers also talk about how the stories from our culture and communities deeply shape us. Being able to understand the ways we are shaped culturally, seeing how that informs who we are today, and knowing we are being transformed by the power of the Holy Spirit from the inside out changes us instead of just changing our behavior. Jesus wants us to experience transformation together. We heal in community, not in isolation. We really aren’t just ourselves—we are social beings. We should engage in lament, repentance, healing, confession, and transformation in community and that is why the church matters in bringing about healing in our world because it is the place where it should be safe for people to engage in real transformation.
