Join us this weekend as we conclude our sermon series based in the Book of Esther. Today, we hear about where we can wisely place our faith. We’ll hear about Esther’s story shows that kicking out the “bad guys” doesn’t solve all the problems. Talk About It! - What are some "silver bullets" that have let you down over the years? (Funny or serious!) - Who are the surrogates you are most likely to ask to fight your battles for you? How has this been effective or ineffective in your life? - What have been the wins and the losses of putting faith only in yourself? - Silver bullets, surrogates, and self-sufficiency are all ways that we try to keep control, but the truth is—we never really had it to begin with. Where are the places in your life you need to place your faith in Jesus, but you're also most scared to let go of control? — Kicking out the “bad guys” doesn’t solve all the problems. We see that clearly in Esther’s story. So where can we wisely place our faith? Instead of relying on a one-size-fits-all solution, Esther and Mordecai had to work within the system they were given, and while God was in control of the outcome, he used the channels humanity had put in place. But we also can’t place our faith in people to fight for us when no one can win the battles of your heart or character but you. We can’t place our faith in human hands. Esther’s story points to the sovereignty of God—absolutely—but it also shows us that our choices matter.
